Inspired by the Lexington GOP, who were first inspired by a Republican group in California, the Saluda County GOP voted last night to adopt a “Run Red” program of our own.
Our purpose is to recruit local leaders for Saluda County – leaders with conservative values, high ethical standards, common sense, and desire to make our county, our state, and our country a better place.
Saluda, like most places, is full of recreational complainers. Citizens have every right to be critical of their government, but few ever really earn the label of “Patriot.” A Patriot is a person who turns his or her insights into action, and steps up in some way to serve. Service can include:
- Working with a Political Party
- Working at the Polls
- Serving on a Board or Commission
- Running for Office
Many of those who would make excellent leaders, do not fail to do it because of unwillingness. Too often, it is because they have absolutely no idea how to go about it. THAT is what Run Red is all about.
The RUN RED committee is looking for strong conservatives who can win! This would include:
- Conservative stances on policy
- The ability to articulate those policy positions
- Good public speaking skills
- Adequate time
- Willingness to work hard to win
Once we have assessed each potential candidate, we will choose the ones we think we can help win elected office. We want to help avoid two talented Republicans for running against each other for the same office, so we may provide alternate ideas for service.
We are not able to give financial aid, but we can:
- Help develop campaign strategy
- Promote on social media
- Address envelopes
- Make calls
- Knock on doors
- Put out campaign signs
