When someone chooses to run as a Republican in Saluda County, it should not be simply because “Republican” is the dominant label on the ballot. It should be because they genuinely share Republican principles and are willing to stand on them.
Our local party spends a great deal of time on real issues, not just slogans. We listen to a wide range of speakers, study policy, debate solutions, and look closely at how local, state, and national decisions affect Saluda County. Candidates who actually work with the party and participate in those discussions become better informed, more serious public servants.
The Run Red program grows out of that conviction. We encourage potential candidates to connect with the party and, when possible, to get involved early—sometimes years before they ever file for office. That early involvement helps them gain a working knowledge of our county’s problems, budgets, and policies, and it roots their campaigns in substance rather than personality.
Run Red is still in its infancy, but its purpose is long‑term: to raise up a bench of candidates who truly understand Republican principles, understand Saluda County’s needs, and are prepared to lead well. Over time, we believe this program can have a powerful effect on the quality of leadership and the strength of conservative governance in our county.
