A great example of grassroots political power…
Most people will not get involved with their political party because they think it won’t make a difference. Today, the Ohio Republican Party provided a great example of Party Power – power emanating upwards from all the individual Republicans who joined the party in their precincts this past March.
Here is the headline:
This is what happened: Vivek Ramaswamy, a Trump acolyte and MAGA favorite, announced as a 2026 candidate for Ohio Governor. Term-limited moderate Republican, Mike DeWine, has been working behind the scenes against Ramaswamy. He prefers the more moderate sitting Attorney General, Dave Yost, who is also running for Governor.
In a very early, surprise move, the Ohio Republican Party, hoping to unify in advance, overwhelmingly endorsed Ramaswamy today. Though it is no guarantee Ramswamy will win the Republican Primary next year, it is definitely a power move in his favor, and a discouragement to other potential candidates.
And who were these people who struck this blow for the “America First” wing of their party? They were people just like you and me, who came out to precinct ReOrg in March and sought office at the County Level of the party so they could vote on the State Level.
No matter what you hear in the Media, the conservatives in the Republican Party are working hard all over the country to increase their influence in The Republican Party. South Carolina is no different.
South Carolina is not as Red as many people think. We have work to do.
It is my job, and my dearest hope, to make sure the voices of everyone in the Saluda County Republican Party, have their maximum effect.
