Let’s all raise a glass to the 335,693 South Carolina Republicans who answered the call in the August 11 Special U.S. Senate Republican Primary.
You did more than cast a ballot—you honored the privilege of self-government. In a special election, when the calendar was inconvenient, you had other things to do, and it was easy to assume somebody else would handle it…
…you showed up!
You studied the choices. You made the effort. You understood that the future does not belong to the people who complain from the sidelines; it belongs to the people who care enough to participate.
Your vote was a declaration of your devotion to your country and the principles it stands for. You did not surrender through indifference, distraction, or the comfortable excuse that “my one vote will not matter.”
You proved that it does.
And for the 2,683,482 registered voters who did not cast a ballot, be grateful to those who are carrying you on their backs.
So please raise a glass to the 11.2% of voters who made a big decision for you. They did their civic duty with conviction and pride. May their example inspire many more to join them in the runoff and again in November.
