South Carolina State University invited our Lt. Governor to address its graduates — then caved under political pressure and then disinvited her when a loud activist minority demanded silence instead of dialogue. This is a shameful surrender to political intimidation and an affront to free expression, civic respect, and basic fairness. If a duly elected statewide official can be canceled for her conservative beliefs, no conservative voice is safe on our public campuses.
At our May meeting, the Saluda County Republican Party will consider adopting a formal resolution condemning SC State’s decision and expressing our full support for Lt. Governor Pamela Evette. We are calling on the university’s leadership and board to reject mob tactics, respect the offices the people have created, and restore a true marketplace of ideas for every student — not just those with the “approved” politics.
If you agree that conservative voices should not be silenced in South Carolina’s public institutions, share this post and make your voice heard. If you would like to be part of the discussion on this resolution, please attend our next meeting on Monday, May 25.
