The members of the Saluda County Republican Party Executive Committee were pleased to have Paul Dans come speak to us at our March meeting last night.
In this March 2026 meeting with the Saluda County Republican Party, U.S. Senate candidate Paul Dans lays out his bold vision to challenge incumbent Lindsey Graham in the June 9, 2026, Republican primary.
A Christian father of five1, MIT and University of Virginia Law graduate, and former Trump administration official, Dans criticizes Graham for prioritizing Washington and foreign aid over South Carolina’s needs—from crumbling local infrastructure to the loss of manufacturing jobs.Dans presents three core proposals:
- 21st Century Industrial Skills — bringing back shop class and offering two years of free technical education in high-demand trades like welding, robotics, and HVAC to prepare South Carolinians for the future and counter AI and H-1B visa competition.
- 21st Century Homesteading Act — seizing Chinese-owned farmland (over 144,000 acres in South Carolina) and redistributing it to young American families to revive rural agriculture and promote chemical-free farming.
- Nationwide Crime Bill — flooding streets with more police, tougher sentencing, and funding to make communities safe again.
He also vows to protect local industries with tariffs on Chinese imports, invest in domestic infrastructure over foreign spending, support family values to reverse declining birth rates, and advance Trump’s agenda by draining the swamp and reforming the federal bureaucracy.
The talk includes a lively Q&A on topics ranging from the timber/paper industry crisis to Chinese land ownership and education reform.
The Saluda GOP is working hard to bring the best election information to Saluda County voters, including as many opportunities as possible to hear and speak to candidates in person.
The regular meeting of our Executive Committee followed Mr. Dans’ presentation. A guest Parliamentarian, Virginia Boyd, helped Chairwoman, Amy Potts, with a presentation of some of the basics of Robert’s Rules of Order. Virginia is the current Chairman of the Abbeville County Republican Party.
Greg Sander from Ridge Spring-Monetta Precinct, gave a report from the Steering Committee. The main topic at the latest meeting was continuing investigation into whether the Saluda GOP should recommend an ordinance regarding future sales of county land in Saluda County.
Jay Dunbar from Pleasant Grove who is Second Vice-Chair for Voter Education gave a current update on the major bills and issues currently before Congress, the SC General Assembly, as well as our local issues. He made particular mention of the current deliberations of the Penny Tax Committee. That Committee is being chaired by Ricky Bailey (Holly Precinct) and with a group of members from across Saluda County, will be determining the projects that will be undertaken if a new Penny Tax is approved on the November 3rd ballot.
Ben Ward from Sardis Precinct then presented the following resolution for members to consider before the next meeting when he will make a motion to support.
We are a small county, so we truly appreciate major candidates like Mr. Dans who travel long distances to come to Saluda. We noted that after he spoke, he stayed for our entire meeting, watched with interest and lingered afterwards to speak one-on-one to several of our members and guests
Thank you, Mr. Dans!
