Upstate businessman speaks at monthly meeting of county Republican Party…
A group of about thirty Saluda Republicans came together at the June 12 meeting of the Saluda County Republican Party to hear Mark Lynch speak about why he is running for the US Senate next year. During an hour-long presentation and Q&A session, he made his case for why voters should choose him over incumbent senator Lindsey Graham.
Mr. Lynch was introduced by his wife, Sarah. He began by recounting his background as a businessman and a person of faith to explain his motivation to run for US Senate. He addressed his fervent pro-life stance, as well as his many conservative, pro-Trump policies. His entire presentation was captured in the following video:
The Saluda County Republican Party is committed to bringing as much information as possible to Saluda voters. This would include appointed and elected officials on county, state and national levels, as well as any candidates for those positions. The Saluda County Party, as a matter of SCGOP policy, is committed to equal support for every Republican seeking elected office. With that in mind, we have also issued an invitation to Senator Graham to come speak to us here in Saluda.
A brief business meeting of the Saluda County Executive Committee preceded Mr. Lynch’s very informative speech. This was only the second meeting of the CEC during it’s new term. (The Republican Party reorganizes every two years in odd-numbered years, so the new group took office this past April.) The first item on the agenda was approving the appointment of Jay Dunbar as 2nd Vice Chairman in charge of Voter Education. Jay will be in charge of gathering all the most current information Saluda voters need on pending legislation and the issues Republicans care most about. He will be responsible for an oral presentation at each meeting, as well as periodic written reports for our website and on social media. Jay will probably be looking for news junkies to help him keep track of things, so if you are particularly interested in Municipal, County, State, National, or World events, stay tuned!
Two committees were also appointed during the meeting. The Hospitality Committee will be co-chaired by Jay Dunbar and Gail Meyer. Their responsibilities are described as:

A second committee, the Finance Committee, was also formed, which Deb Camp, our current Treasurer, will chair:

The CEC voted to purchase a PO Box for six months in order to be able to receive donations by check. Judy Mason, of Holly Precinct, immediately wrote a check to cover the $42 cost! Being on a very limited budget, her generous offer was happily accepted.
The next meeting of the Saluda County Executive Committee will be July 10. Meeting details will be announced soon.
There is so much more that an organized group of like-minded Republicans can do than any one person can accomplish on an individual basis. It is hoped that a re-invigorated Saluda County Republican Party can do just that. We are off to a great start and have ambitious plans. Our goal is to have a working group of a size that we can accomplish by having a group that does not impose too greatly on any one member’s busy schedule.
Meantime, enjoy a gallery of photos from the meeting. Thanks to everyone who attended. If you weren’t there, please feel free to come check us out at any time. Your face will only improve what is an already good-looking group!
