Hello, Saluda County. For those of you who have already cast your votes for me, thank you for your support. For those of you who are waiting and haven’t made up your mind, I’m asking for your vote—and let me tell you why.
Over the last four years that I have been chairman, we have seen Saluda County steadily moving forward. The projects from the 2018 capital project sales tax, which included an animal holding facility, purchasing land and building a new library, the Ridge Spring streetscape, and the detention center, have been completed or will be this summer.
We’ve seen a new EMS headquarters built, and a road with water and sewer at the Commerce Park constructed that will encourage economic development.
We’ve seen an expansion at Piedmont Tech that will train our young people for the jobs of the future, and we have an urgent care that is near completion.
In the fall, you will be voting to continue the capital project sales tax and position the county for continued growth.
Importantly, we have heard your concerns about transparency. At your urging, council has instituted a public comment period, and work is ongoing to improve the county website.
County employees have started a weekly podcast [Saluda Unplugged] to keep you informed about what’s going on in the county.
I promise you that going forward I will do my best to keep you abreast of what the county is doing.
So as you go to the polls Tuesday, keep me in mind and keep Saluda County moving forward.
Thank you for your support.
