Holly’s GOP Precinct Organization

President

Committeeman
Holly Precinct is the largest in Saluda County with 1526 registered voters as of April 2025.
Holly was the first precinct in Saluda to be organized. It usually leads the pack in votes cast in every Saluda election, though Hollywood is close on Holly’s heels.
At the March 2025 ReOrg meeting, John Hood was elected President, which means he is responsible for keeping the precinct organized. Amy Potts was elected Committeewoman, which meant she represents Holly Precinct on the County Level, but she subsequently resigned from that position after being elected County Chairman. There will be a precinct meeting in June to elect her replacement. Until then, President John Hood will be the proxy voter for Holly Precinct on the County Executive Committee.
Three hundred eighty-two people from Holly Precinct voted. in the June 2024 Republican Primary. Based on those 382 primary voters, at the ReOrg meeting in March, Holly Precinct was allowed to select 15 delegates to the 2025 Saluda County Convention in April.
Thirteen of the 15 delegate slots filled, and twelve of those attended the Convention.

What does it mean to “Join” Your Precinct?
The official organization of The Republican Party exists on the National level (RNC), the State level (SCGOP), the County level (The Saluda County Republican Party), and the Precinct level. But it all starts on the Precinct level. You can donate money to any level or to any candidate’s for campaign, but if you want to become a decision-maker about the direction of the Republican Party itself, you must join in the precinct where you are registered to vote.
Precinct Officers, County Officers and State Officers are all elected during the ReOrg process for two-year terms. It is very worthwhile, however, to join between ReOrgs. There are like-minded friends to make and a role for everyone who has the smallest amount of time to offer. Sometimes an officer must resign, and there is an opportunity for a late-comer to fill a vacant spot.
