Higgins-Zoar has 631 registered voters, and 141 of them voted in the 2024 Republican Primary. This gave the precinct 6 delegate slots to the County Convention, and all of them were filled.
Precinct ReOrg occurs every two years in odd-numbered years, and this was one of those years. At the March meeting, Jerry Daniels was elected President, which means he is responsible for keeping the precinct organized. Melinda Kneece was elected Committeewoman, which means she represents Higginz-Zoar Precinct on the County Level. Both Jerry and Melinda are members of the County Executive Committee, with Melinda as the voting member. If Melinda is absent, Jerry votes in her stead.

What does it mean to “Join” Your Precinct?
The official organization of The Republican Party exists on the National level (RNC), the State level (SCGOP), the County level (The Saluda County Republican Party), and the Precinct level. But it all starts on the Precinct level. You can donate money to any level or to any candidate’s campaign, but if you want to become a decision-maker about the direction of the Republican Party itself, you must join in the precinct where you are registered to vote.
Precinct Officers, County Officers and State Officers are all elected during the ReOrg process for two-year terms, but you can join any time. There are like-minded friends to make and a role for everyone who has the smallest amount of time to offer. Sometimes an officer must resign, and there is an opportunity for a late-comer to fill a vacant spot.
