Nancy Mace is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 1st congressional district since 2021. She was born in 1977 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and is the first woman to graduate from The Citadel’s Corps of Cadets program (1999), earning a bachelor’s in business administration magna cum laude. Mace later completed a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication at the University of Georgia.
Nancy Mace’s voting record in Congress reflects a generally conservative stance, with notable exceptions on several issues. She tends to support limited government, fiscal responsibility, and border security, but occasionally breaks from GOP orthodoxy, particularly on issues like abortion and criminal justice reform.
Nancy Mace’s support for Donald Trump can best described as changeable. She was an early ally in 2016, but has openly criticized him at times, especially following January 6th. Mace switched her stance in early 2024 and publicly backed Trump, emphasizing that he was the best choice for the party and the country. Her endorsement was highly publicized, and she prominently aligned herself with Trump throughout the campaign season, and since his election.
