Communication is hard these days – especially in small rural counties, like Saluda, that do not have a daily newspaper.
Most people do not answer calls from numbers they do not recognize. Some never listen to voicemail from those numbers either. Some people monitor email, and ignore texts. Some read every single text and give short shrift to email. And in Saluda, with a large number of older residents, many do not use much technology at all.
On the whole, since email has cut down on letters sent through the US Postal Service, people often pay more attention to stamped personal letters than anything else. That is why the Saluda GOP will sometimes be using regular mail. It is expensive, yes, but we will be using it to develop a better contact list going forward.
Come join a small group of very nice people and help address mail from time to time. You may make a new friend, and have a chance for some good conversation in good company.
If you prefer to help prepare mail at home, we can arrange that too!
